Enter The Crypto > Cryptocurrency News > Visa Crackdown On Bitcoin Debit Cards

Visa has terminated WaveCrest’s membership due to non-compliance with Visa’s rules and regulations. Wavecrest provided Bitcoin debit cards to a number of companies including; Bitpay, Cryptopay, Bitwala and Wirex.

If you have a Bitcoin or Crypto debit card then please check its current status with your provider. Most companies affected have issued statements via their website or social media.

Wirex have stated that their users’ balances are safe, and that they shall be issuing new debit cards shortly.

In previous posts I have stated that I believe tougher and stricter regulations will be introduced this year. We are likely to see further bans and tougher sanctions on exchanges and providers who do not meet the regulatory standards that are to be set.
